Yoga in Zeiten von Corona und Social Distancing

Seit über zwei Wochen nun übe ich mich im Online Unterricht … nicht, weil ich so unglaublich gerne vor der Kamera stehe, nicht, weil mir das Hin- und Herfahren zu den Studios zu nervig ist. Ich mache das, um meinen Schülern und allen anderen die Möglichkeit zu geben, ihre Praxis aufrecht zu erhalten. Ein geschlossenes Studio ist und darf kein Grund sein, dass “Yoga nicht mehr gemacht” werden kann.

Ein Pfeiler meines Unterrichts war und ist es, meine Schüler mit dem notwendigen Handwerkszeug auszustatten, dass sie auch ohne mich IHR Yoga finden und ausüben können.

Diese Tage nun, da uns nahe gelegt wird, jede Art menschlichen Kontakts erstmal zu vermeiden, ist das Online Training oder Live Classes via ZOOM oder einer anderen, beliebigen Plattform unausweichlich. Nämlich für all diejenigen, die es sich – aus welchen Gründen auch immer – nicht leisten können, ins Studio zu kommen. Egal ob aus Zeit- oder finanziellen Gründen, unabhängig von der Entfernung. Ja, sogar unabhängig von der Zeitzone …

Heute – von mir, für dich – eine 60 Minuten Yogaklasse. Das einzige, was du brauchst, ist ein Internetzugang und Zugang zu YouTube. Aber wenn du das hier gelesen hast, bist du ja schon halbwegs dort 😉.

Not gonna lie. After a few weeks into the online training I feel like I am losing pieces of my identity as a teacher. I took a break to think about what and why this is happening. Turns out .. I want too much in a too short amount of time. Once I decided to slow it down, to study and give myself the opportunity to let all the stuff sink in I instantly felt better.

Being into my week 3 of my online TT by @lytyoga is keeping me busy. To stay on top I watch and practice at least 3 hours a day, taking notes, finding the similarities, the differences between my beloved Katonah Yoga® and LYT™ only to realise (as if I haven’t known before) that it’s all the same. We LOVE to EVOLve (thanks to Brian Nygard for this one).

You do not serve your practice, your practice serves you. So that you can live well. So that you can cope. So that you can be well adjusted in a world that is utterly demanding. 

I am going to spend next weekend in Dublin, Ireland. I have never been there. It’s a weekend to serve me. Learning new skills and techniques. Some will work for me, some won’t. But these experiences will make me more competent, more able and will give me more stability and safety. With that my vision gets clearer and I get stronger in body & mind.
